English → Brazilian Portuguese
29,558 English words · 282 paragraphs · report of 27 August 2026, revised 3 September; v4 of 15 October 2026
A professional linguist settled the terminology with us before translation, then revised a random selection of passages without being told which ones the AI had marked as uncertain, and one paper in full.
A linguist of this literature revised 82 paragraphs of this translation. 78 of the 82 were right the first time. The four mistakes of meaning he found are corrected, everywhere they appeared, in his own wording, and each became a written rule.

I have read this Assurance Report. Its account of my part in these ten papers is accurate: the passages I read, what I flagged, and what came of it.

He worked on clean, finished text, with nothing marked and no hint of what the AI had questioned. 56 paragraphs were drawn at random from seven of the ten papers; he read one paper in full, 24 paragraphs, and ten paragraphs of another that our own tools had missed. 8 fell in both the draw and the full reading, which is why the total is 82 and not 90. We could not choose what he saw.
How this translation was made
We translate with AI, following a rule book written with people who know this literature: a glossary of 1,046 entries of terminology, 654 renderings that must always be used, and the traps this kind of text invites. The AI then revised its own work against the English, and what it found was corrected. A professional linguist settled the terminology with us before translation, then revised a random selection of passages without being told which ones the AI had marked as uncertain, and one paper in full.

Three passages from Paper 5, exactly as the translation reads today — including the paragraph the linguist corrected. Every passage is traceable to the delivery record.
The English says
Although the Paradise Deities function as an integrated unity from the universe perspective, in their spiritual relations with beings such as Urantia mortals, they operate as three distinct and separate persons. Significant distinctions exist among the Godheads regarding the protocols for personal appeals, communion, and other intimate relations…
We delivered
Embora as Deidades do Paraíso funcionem como uma unidade integrada da perspectiva do universo, nas suas relações espirituais com seres tais como os mortais de Urântia, elas operam como três pessoas distintas e separadas. Existem distinções significativas entre as Deidades quanto aos protocolos para os apelos pessoais, para a comunhão e para outras relações íntimas…
"Godheads" has no ready Portuguese equivalent. An early draft used a word the rule book forbids; the AI's own revision caught it and corrected it to "Deidades" before delivery. The linguist, reading cold, singled the choice out: "a good solution." He was judging our self-correction without knowing it was one.
The English says
The indwelling divine fragment offers mortals the progressive capacity to discern other spiritual influences as they harmonize with the Adjuster's guidance… fulfilling the scriptural dictum: "By their fruits you shall know them."
We delivered
O fragmento divino residente oferece aos mortais a capacidade progressiva de discernir outras influências espirituais à medida que eles se harmonizam com a orientação do Ajustador… cumprindo o dito das escrituras: "Pelos seus frutos os conhecereis".
This paragraph carried one of the two mistakes he judged serious enough to hold back from publication: Portuguese grammar had forced a pronoun to pick a noun, and it picked the wrong one — changing who acts. It reads here as he corrected it, in his words. We then searched all ten papers for the same kind of slip. The search found no other instance, and it is corrected.
The English says
The Universal Father functions as the God of personalities, serving as both originator and preserver of every personality throughout the universe… God bestows and conserves personality while simultaneously constituting the ultimate destiny for finite personalities who wholeheartedly choose divine will alignment and aspire toward God-likeness.
We delivered
O Pai Universal funciona como o Deus das personalidades, servindo tanto como originador quanto como preservador de cada personalidade por todo o universo… Deus outorga e conserva a personalidade, ao mesmo tempo que constitui o destino último das personalidades finitas que escolhem de todo o coração o alinhamento com a vontade divina e aspiram à semelhança com Deus.
The load-bearing terms here — "personality," "bestow," the names of Deity — are renderings that must always be used, and our programs enforce them in all 282 paragraphs. That has two limits worth stating. The first is scope: ten paragraphs of another paper were revised later than the rest, after we found that our own tools had never given them an identifier. The linguist has since read all ten cold: he passed every one as publishable, and left two small corrections in one of them, a hyphenated compound in the wrong order and an unnecessary comma. The second is deeper: in the 82 paragraphs he revised, the one terminology mistake he found came from a rule we were following, a word order inherited from the glossary we were given at the start. Our programs showed the text obeyed the rule; only he could tell us the rule was wrong. It is corrected.
Hand these to any Portuguese reader you trust. Every paragraph of the ten papers was made the same way, and any paragraph can be put to the same test.
If an error is found
We correct it and say so. Every delivery has a record. If an error is found after delivery, we correct the files, note the correction on the record, and tell the client.
The record of this project: 82 paragraphs revised by the linguist (56 drawn at random + 34 read in full, less 8 counted in both) · 4 mistakes of meaning found · all corrected and turned into written rules · 7 small points (punctuation and style), all applied.
The full record: every number, every decision
What the linguist found
4 errors of meaning and 7 minor notes across 82 revised paragraphs (56 drawn at random + 34 read in full, less 8 counted in both). The errors: "perfected" rendered as "improved"; "unwilling" rendered with a false friend that reads as "unwell"; one pronoun attached to the wrong noun, changing who acts; and one name whose word order our own rule book mandated wrongly, inherited from the glossary we were given at the start of the project. Each was corrected everywhere it appears (the searches are on file), and each is now a written rule.
What the AI's own revision caught before delivery
Across the ten papers the AI's revision raised 212 questions against the English. 34 were real and were fixed before anything shipped. 141 turned out fine — the Portuguese says what the English says, and we do not "improve" the author. 37 became notes for editors rather than changes.
One example: in one paper, a chain of possessive phrases read smoothly but left it genuinely ambiguous which noun owned which phrase — a sentence that sounds right and means the wrong thing. The revision caught it and it was corrected. We then proposed a rule limiting the length of such chains — and dropped it: across the ten papers, the one chain that changed a meaning was shorter than three that were perfectly clear, so length was not the thing to measure. The linguist agreed and declined to make it a rule, and the case stays on file as an instance rather than a rule. We would rather tell you we withdrew a rule than show you one that fires on correct sentences.

A note on our numbers: we tell you counts — how many, out of how many — never a single blended score. What the linguist found, what the AI's revision caught, and what remains open are three different things, and we never mix them into one number.
